REDcert is a voluntary certification system that can be used to demonstrate compliance with the sustainability criteria required by the EU Renewable Energy Directive (2023/2413 – RED III) for the production of biofuels and bioliquids from biomass.

REDcert² extends the system to the food and feed sector.

REDcert is the sister system to SURE EU (SURE). Unlike SURE, REDcert focuses on demonstrating compliance with the sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids produced from biomass.

Because REDcert and SURE are mutually recognized, it is possible to certify part of the supply chain under REDcert and another part under SURE, thus ensuring compliance across the entire supply chain.
