QS – Quality scheme for food

The QS system includes all stages of production, processing and marketing of food. Starting with farms and continuing through the chain up to food retail stores, the system defines requirements for market participants, which are inspected in a three-step system by internal self-monitoring, independent surveillance and the internal control system of the “QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH”. Currently two main systematic supply chains are identified; the supply chain meat and the supply chain fruit, vegetables and potatoes. Further information on the QS system can be found at https://q-s.de/ .

We offer certification in the following areas:

Animal Feed Sector
Feed is of particular importance in the production of foods of animal origin. In the QS scheme production, transport, production sites and trade of both single and compound feed are taken into account. Additionally mobile milling and mixing equipment is also considered. When a company active in the feed sector has been certified in the QS system, it can also use this certification for an authorization in the GMP + scheme. Prerequisites are a parallel registration in both systems and an annual audit by an approved certification body such as IFTA AG.

Poultry Farming
Especially for agricultural businesses the participation in the QS system appears indispensable. The proof of compliance is a prerequisite to offer their products in the market.

Food industry and trade
Slaughtering, cutting and processing plants have a high responsibility to ensure food quality. This also applies to butcher's shops. The quality assurance system of "QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH" is a uniform standard for ensuring food quality and therefore integrates the stages slaughtering, cutting and processing.
